The Barley House
The original farmhouse of Braeside of Lindores was built in the 1800’s and is a unique space full of authentic, rustic charm. The Barley House is available for groups of up to 24 guests to gather, dine, taste whisky and experience Lindores. The Barley House is multifunctional and lends itself to a variety of events, foodie experiences, talks and is the base for our Farm Tours.
Located in our working farm it has become the centrepiece. Built with local stone over 2oo years ago, it’s has had multiple uses in it’s lifetime – more recently it stored our grain dryer for drying barley after harvest. The space remains cosy even with its high ceilings. The walls ooze character and this we believe is part of it’s charm. During our up-fit we wanted to let the walls sing, tell their story and years of history. There are floating fireplaces from the original first floor bedrooms and you’ll see exposed copper pipes and conduit which give a sense of functionality and fun.
The Barley House space is open plan, furniture can be reconfigured for different groups and events. There is a large log burning stove with complimentary firewood which we will have roaring for your arrival. There are three solid oak tables with bench seating for 2 – 24 guests. Tables and benches can be moved should a group or event require more floor space and less seating.
The solid oak worktop and cabinetry at the end of The Barley House is equipped with coat hangers, fridge, crockery, plates, mugs. The steps lead to a cloakroom toilet, disabled toilet, an equipped kitchen. Same level access to the disabled toilet is possible via another entrance door.
